Bubble Diagram - Draft 1

Here is my first draft of my bubble diagram. If you compare this to the program draft you will see that I am in the process of revising the program based on comments I have received thus far. For example, I have reduced the number of living quarter bathrooms and parking. I am tweaking both of them as I go along. This just shows the grouping I would like to have and the interaction/access between the spaces. I will be posting more as I continue.

Jaclyn,
The four Major Bubbles realtionships are very integral all together.
Good stuff!!

You was tottaly right and practical when you raised the Idea of loading and parking, perhaps as Gus said, you had this experience last semester.while i didnt have such experience.I was wrong.

I cant wait to see your organizational diagrams and the relationships between the 5 diffrent elements all together.

I see that the major bubbles differ in size, its very helpful to indicate the percentages or the difference in scale among the major and the minor bubbles.

I wonder Where is the Studio space in your program bubble study?
are you defining a new shape for the studio? a studio that is more efficient and make the best use of the other elements as plotter's space, model room and affinity areas?

I wonder if you are focusing too much on the affinity areas? compared to the classrooms? in propotions?

Keep up the hard work.

Amr,
You have me thinking. I was under the impression that the client wished for the classroom to be both the studio and the lecture hall. I thought that was what was described in the sheet from Werner. Maybe Werner can clarify this for us? If we have the option to break them out I definitely will be!!!! Thank you for raising this. Any opinions cohort?

Jaclyn,

This is a very informative graphic. The cellular composition is intriguing, as far as what the implications will be later on during the design process.
I think the most alarming part of the diagram that jumped out at me is the shower rooms in the student quarters???

I am just curious why the communal shower areas?

Kara,
Community showers… I know they are not ideal; however this is the reason behind them. I am looking to cut down on my spaces and the uses as Eddie pointed out that we should be doing. Why have all these separate bathroom facilities. So… I have created restrooms that are shared between rooms. My thoughts though are that a shower could be disturbing to someone in the next room. I know I was always worried about taking a shower and disturbing Stacey at 3am or whenever it was. I am trying to create a way to avoid this feeling, but like I mentioned on David’s blog…. Maybe I am worrying over nothing. Maybe this sense of comfort needs to be pushed aside. Oh…I’m not thinking one big open room! It will be individual showers in there. I don’t know if you were aware of that or not.

Jaclyn,

I like how you have sepearated the organization into 5 seperate majors and then divide the minor spaces. Is the space in the center of the dorm rooms open? Community space? I am as intrigued as Kara about how these spaces circulate, organize and construct! Great job thus far, I can't wait to see further diagrams!

Jaclyn,

I figured the room would be configured like showers in a recreation locker room...I suppose I really want to have the space to allow for suites that have restroom facilities with showers. I am currently working the sf, I suppose soon it will become clear if this is feasible...

Jaclyn, your three pieces of work are each a good effort. The program is consise and is hitting similar numbers we saw laast semester. the bubble diagram shows a reasonble first organization. They do however not exactly represent your description. I would like you to try to bring the three somewhat closer.

Werner,
Thank you for the comment. I am currently working on a sheet layout that includes revisions on all three. I will have it posted no later then tomorrow night. Hopefully prior to that though!

Jaclyn,
I think your work is very clean and objective (just like in 1st semester) and it reflects a great degree of logic, but reflecting in Werner’s comment, I agree that the logic sequence of events is some times as important as the event itself! The reason and motive why we do things…. For example it was so revealing for me when you mention the parking (which by the way I incorporated in my program because of you!) is because for me had no relevance (I get to Boston by air) but for you it is an other problem to solve, there for a concern of yours. I think this might be the correlation you are looking for…. That I am looking for!!!!! I am certainly anxious to see your next work!
